May 23, 2016

We’re just a few weeks away from the Call for Makers, where we’ll open up the application process to makers, speakers, workshop leaders, Power Racing teams, cosplayers, and anyone else who wants to gather up the awesome things they’ve been creating and share them at Maker Faire Milwaukee.

If you haven’t applied before, the application form will walk you through a series of questions to determine what your needs are. Things like how much space, and how much power you’ll need (if any) and if your exhibit has fire, we’ll need to know about that too.

If you’re worried that you’ll forget about the Call for Makers, just sign up for our Email List. There’s a tiny form in the sidebar of the website. Just enter your email address and click ‘Sign Up’!

Pre-Register!

As you probably know, Maker Faire Milwaukee is a FREE event. That’s right, thanks to our sponsors the ticket price to awesome is zero.

When you get to Maker Faire, there will be two lines; one for people who have not registered, and those who have pre-registered. Yes, you can pre-register for Maker Faire Milwaukee!

Save yourself (and our volunteers) some time, and head on over to Eventbrite to pre-register.

Sleepy?

If your planning to attend Maker Faire Milwaukee, you’ve probably already seen our Attend page, which is full of great info about the where, the when, and the parking, but we’ve also got information on accommodations, if you need a place to stay.

There is an on-site Dorm/Hostel at State Fair Park. It’s the closest option for staying near Maker Faire. There’s also a list of nearby hotels, and if you like to travel with your own accommodations, check out the RV parking info.

If none of those work for you, there’s always AirBNB and Couchsurfing.com!

Makers Apply Here!

The Call for Makers is now open!

Thanks to the success of our inaugural event that attracted more than 35,000 attendees, Maker Faire Milwaukee is listed as the nation’s largest Featured Maker Faire. We need your help to make this year’s event even bigger and better!

Laser Maze

With the Call for Makers now open (through August 1, 2015), we are kicking planning for Maker Faire Milwaukee into high gear. This year, we will be creating a “Dark Arts” exhibit area for makers with LED, electronics, and other projects that are best experienced in low light. Makers, if you have a project or one in mind that needs darkness to shine, bring it to Maker Faire! This space will also feature a laser maze, and provide makers and visitors with spaces to gather for casual discussions, back of the napkin idea sharing and refreshments.

Glowing Yarn Sculpture

Maker Faire Milwaukee’s booth space has been extended, so we’re extending the application deadline! The Call for Makers is now open through August 17.

That’s an extra 15 days to apply, and to spread the word to all your Maker friends and forums! A big “thank you” goes out to the 100+ Makers who have already submitted applications – you guys are awesome. We’ll be reviewing them all in the next few weeks, and will be sending out acceptance confirmations shortly thereafter.

Do you know anyone that would be interested in being a part of Maker Faire Milwaukee 2014? If so, please encourage them to apply or volunteer!

The first-ever White House Maker Faire will be held on Wednesday, June 18, and that day has been designated as a nationwide “Day of Making.” It seemed like a good time to make our plans for Milwaukee’s first Maker Faire official, too! Maker Faire Milwaukee will be held on September 27-28 at Wisconsin State Fair Park, on the same weekend as Harvest Fair. Admission is free. Maker Faire Milwaukee’s Call for Makers is now open.  If you are a maker, commercial maker (selling awesome stuff you made), power wheels contestant, potential speaker/presenter, or are interested in leading a workshop, please click here to fill out the Call for Makers form. #MKEMakerFaire #NationOfMakers
