I have been making things with needles and thread since I was very young using a variety of techniques. I currently focus on hand embroidery, hand dyeing, Japanese braiding techniques, and incorporating electronics into conventional needlepoint and embroidery pieces. I also teach hand embroidery, sampler making, and fabric dyeing. I am endlessly fascinated by the magic of dyeing, and the multitude of things that can be created using a length of thread or yarn and some type of needle or hook. I am a member of the American Needlepoint Guild (www.needlepoint.org) and the North Suburban Needlearts Guild (www.nsng.org).

My craft is tatting (a knotted form of handmade lace). I design original patterns, as well as hand dye thread. See my work on Etsy at yarnplayer.etsy.com or visit my blog at http://yarnplayertats.blogspot.com/.

What inspired you to make this project?
I have been making things with threaded needles for decades and think the Maker Faire is a good opportunity to put the guilds in the area in touch with younger people who may be interested.
