Critical Sheep Yarns
Amanda Hansen
I’m a nerd, knitter and lover of everything that has to do with sheep. If I could live in the country with a big farmhouse with a herd of sheep and spend my days knitting, spinning, cooking and making a warm and loving home, I would be so happy with my life. I live in Waukesha and love filling my time with yarnie goodness. I am married to an equally nerdy man and we spend our Saturday nights playing all manner of games.

What inspired you to make this project?
I see indie dyers offer a lot of speckles right now and wanted to offer a solid option that wasn't mass produced. While we still offer some speckles and multi-colored yarns, our core colors are solid with slight tonalities. I pick my yarns for their ethical sourcing and the treatment of the sheep. I dye the yarns with a food-safe dye that is colorfast, rather than a potentially toxic acid dye. This way I can dye in my kitchen without running the risk of harming my family and pets.
